UK UNIVERSITIES: PATENTS ON THE UP BUT INCOME FALLS

The Guardian reports that British universities’ income from intellectual property fell during 2002/2003 from £37million to £27million. During the same period, the number of patents granted to British universities almost doubled, the final figure being 371.

The IPKat is rather puzzled by the maths here. He suspects that maybe universities’ income from licensing patents they already own may be dropping.
